Willie Mae Christian Haynes was born to the union of Frank and Josephine Christian, May 26, 1939, in Cameron, TX. She was the 7th child of 18 children. Willie Mae accepted the Lord at an early age uniting with the Cannan Baptist Church in Loraine, TX. She sang in the choir and loved singing. Willie Mae attended Longfellow School, then on to Wallace High School in Colorado City, TX. Later she married Nathan Haynes Jr., started a family and moved to Ft. Worth, TX. In 1973 she moved her family to Odessa, TX. She united with the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. She was a very supportive member. Willie Mae sang in the adult choir, was a mission member, served with the kitchen ministry and the welcome committee. Willie Mae loved the Lord. Willie Mae took a trade at Odessa College in welding. She was the first woman welder in Odessa, TX and was employed at Compressor Systems, Inc as a Code Welder. Later she became a House Manager for Clover House where she retired. Willie Mae loved her family dearly and never met a stranger. Willie Mae is preceded in death by her father and mother: Frank and Josephine Christian, sister: Vernice Christian, daughter: Sarah Louise Haynes and son: Vince Edward Haynes.She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons: Nathan Haynes the 3rd, Dennis (Debra) Haynes, Tommie Haynes all of Odessa, TX; 3 daughters: Sherry (Waymon) Zallicoffer, Carolyn Haynes, Tracy Haynes all of Odessa, TX; brothers: Fred (Emma) Christian (Riverdale, CA), Charles Christian (Mesquite, TX), Kenneth (Helen) Christian (San Marcos, TX), Ivory (Ora) Christian, Alvin (Ginger) Christian, Curtis Christian, Lawrence Christian (Odessa, TX); sisters: Lucille Christian (Cucamonga, CA), Barbara Armstrong (Ft. Worth, TX), Frankie Mae Davis (Odessa, TX); 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
