Shirley Rimer

December 3, 1935 — May 18, 2022

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Shirley Carole (Williams) Rimer, loving wife and mother of five children, passed away at the age of 86.

Shirley was born on December 3, 1935 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Edward Herman “Jack” Williams and Bertha Bell (Megehee) Williams.  On March 15, 1952, she married Arthur Glen Rimer. They raised two sons, Christopher and Darrell, and two daughters, Cynthia and Diana.  They were predeceased by infant son Phillip.

Shirley had a passion for her family.  She was loved and admired by friends and family.  She was known for her patient ways, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.  She was helpful to her family and helped members of her family at every opportunity.  She was always there to help her children and grandchildren navigate their way through life with all of its ups and downs.  Shirley was an excellent listener when anyone had problems or just wanted to talk.  Her empathy for others was boundless.

Shirley was preceded in death by her dad, Jack and step-mother Vivian, her mother, Bertha, her husband of 56 years Glen, son Phillip, son-in-law Michael Whirley ,and grandson-in-law Anders Pedersen.  She is survived by her children, Christopher Lawrence Rimer and wife Vickie, Cynthia Gail Whirley, Diana Elizabeth Smith and husband Ron, and Darrell Glen Rimer and wife Joan.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Carole, Conrad, Phillip, Tiffney, Mark, Matthew, Meshell, Felisea, Jaymie, Desirea, Travis and Troy. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

As per her expressed and written instructions there will be no funeral service, viewing of the body or memorial.  It was her wish to be cremated and her ashes be given to her children.  Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas will be handling the cremation.  Condolences may be submitted to surviving family members by whatever media is preferred.
