Ruben R. Rodriguez, 86, passed away December 24th, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 2, 1935; in El Divisadero, Ojinaga, Chihuahua. He lived in Odessa, TX. Ruben, affectionately known as “Dad” or “Patron”, was born to Diega and Petronilo Rodriguez where he was the 5th out of 12 children. He met the love of his life, Leonila Samaniego, in Ojinaga and were married on February 22, 1958. They moved to Odessa, TX in March 1959 and were blessed with 8 wonderful children.
Ruben was employed with the City of Odessa as a Traffic Engineer for 35 years until he retired. After retirement, his second home was the Tres R’s Ranch. There he enjoyed spending time with his family and tending to his many animals. His second passion was horse racing. He could talk about it all day long, especially his horse “Patty,” who was very competitive and won several races.
He was met in heaven by his parents, two sisters Carlota and Anita, and his brother Aurelio.
He leaves to cherish his memory - his loving wife Leonila and eight children Ruben (Molin), Nancy, Rolando (Elva), Daniel (Maggie), Artemio (Andreina), Joel (Becky), Rita (Victor), and Carime (Arvey), as well as twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He also leaves his siblings, Ludivina, Elifida, Natividad, Luz Elena, Jose, Alonso, Petronilo, and Miguel.
Pall bearers will be grandchildren Melissa Rodriguez, Rolando Rodriguez Jr, Michael Robles, Christopher Rodriguez, Kimberly Rodriguez, Valerie Lopez, Brian Rodriguez, and Aleck Villa.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Medical Center Hospital, Interim Healthcare Hospice, and Jessica Sotelo for their assistance and guidance through this difficult time.
Visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM. Rosary at 7:00PM. Church Service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00PM Interment will follow and be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
