Obituary

Joycie L. Hunter Moore, 79, of Andrews, was a loving, devoted mother, wife, grandma, and friend who passed away peacefully in her home of Odessa on May 3, 2023.

Joycie was born on the 15th of October 1943 in Harlingen, Texas to the parents of Rev. George Heights and Mrs. Willie Etter Heights. At the age of 12 she relocated to Andrews, Texas where she attended Lincoln School and later in life she obtained her GED. Joycie was employed at Andrews Community Hospital and Permian Regional Medical Center for 33 years. There she became a housekeeping supervisor, nursing assistant, and later became a sterile tech which she greatly enjoyed. Joycie married Edward Lee Sr. and started a family bearing three amazing children together, Darlene Moore, Edward Moore Jr., and Paul Moore. Later she met her second husband Richard H. Hunter Sr. who she married, and he continued to help raise her kids and grandkids. In 1998 Joycie and Michael moved to Odessa where she later passed away at their home.

Joycie Hunter-Moore is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. George Heights, Mother Willie Etter Heights, Uncle Joe Heights, Ex-Husband Edward L. Moore Sr. and Richard H. Hunter Sr.

Joycie is survived by Spouse Michael O. Moore, Children, Darlene Moore of Odessa, Edward Moore Jr. of Odessa and Paul Moore of Killeen, Texas. Cousin; Mary Joe Brown of Andrews, Texas. Grandchildren, Tavares Moore of Tyler, Texas, Eric Moore of Houston, Texas, Jayme Jackson, Catrina Moore and Marquetta Hill of Odessa, Texas, Jac Vining of Dallas, Texas, Joseph Moore of Houston, Texas, Tara Moore of Orange, Texas, Joshua Moore of Andrews, Texas, and Arianna Moore of Odessa, Texas.

Joycie Hunter is survived by 23 wonderful great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
