Cleveland Williams Sr.

June 25, 1927 — December 11, 2019

Odessa

The sojourn from earth to heaven was completed for Mr. Cleveland Williams, Sr. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.  God said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also." John 14:2-3

Cleveland Williams, Sr. (Cleve) was born to the parentage of Mr. Ruben Williams and Mrs. Mamie Oages Williams in Cameron, Milam County, Texas on June 25, 1927.  He received his formal education in Cameron, Texas.

He served in the Armed Forces for many years, leaving with an honorable discharge.  After being discharged from the Army he later moved to Kermit, Texas for many years where he met and soon united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Mae Williams whom he stayed married to until he went to be with the Lord.  To their union they were blessed with ten children, 23 plus grandchildren, and 40 plus great grandchildren.

He worked for Dow Chemical Corporation and drove tractor trailer for years.  He also was a carpenter and barber part time after work.  God allowed him to rededicate his life to Christ under Bishop J Neul Haynes at Saintsville COGIC, in Dallas, Texas.  He later moved to Odessa, Tx where he served as a faithful member and deacon under the tutelage of Pastor Charles E. Turner Sr. where he remained a faithful member until he went home to be with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Mamie Williams; Step-mother, Annie Williams; wife, Dorothy Williams; son, Lorenzo Williams; four brothers, Charlie, Jasper, Johnnie, and Melvin (MV) Williams; three sisters, Ruby Hubbard, Lewis Richardson, and Nora Robinson.

Cleveland is survived by his nine children, Cleveland Williams, Jr., (Duggar) of Odessa, Texas, Leta Richardson, Janice Williams, Lashinda Williams, Ricky Williams, all of Dallas, Texas, Dornice Johnson of Chandler, Texas, Amey Dale, Nakita Williams, Robert Perry Williams all of Atlanta, Georgia.
