Windel Richmond

Windel LaRoy Richmond, 46, was born on October 5, 1966, in Odessa, Texas, to Winfred and Ozelle Roan Richmond.

Windel graduated from Permian High School in 1985. He worked for the Maintenance Department of E.C.I.S.D. for 20 years. He was a former member of St. James Baptist Church and a present member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

Windel loved his red truck, working in his yard, fishing, boating, going to car races, visiting car museums, camping and traveling. He was a friendly person who met no stranger. You would always find him helping others in moving, smoking meat on the barbecue pit, and trimming trees. Even though his health became a major priority, he remained in high spirits.

Windel is preceded in death by his mother, Ozelle R. Richmond grandparents, G.A. Richmond Ethel and William Roan Mary uncles, Edward Roan, Grover Richmond, and Attrel Richmond aunts, Clara Richmond and Virgil Lane.

On Saturday, May 25, 2013, God saw fit to call him home. God knows best and he is at rest. He was a funloving son and brother that will be truly missed. To cherish his memory, he leaves a loving father, Winfred, of Odessa, Texas sister, Sandra of Baytown stepsister, Bettye Richardson of Fort Worth uncle and aunt, Thomas Roan Elizabeth of Baytown uncle, Wallace Lane of Waco 2 nieces 1 nephew 1 greatniece 5 greatnephews and many cousins, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 from 9 AM 9 PM at MartinezSmith Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 10 AM at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Gardens section of the Ector County Cemetery.
