Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2014, Waddell Cox Henry Kelly transitioned from this life to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Waddell was born to Herbert A and Lavacie Jones Cox on October 8, 1931 in Cherokee County PineHill Community. He attended school in his early years in Sylvester, Texas and at Blackshear High School in Odessa, Texas. At an early age of 14 he was baptized in the Brazos River in the Church of Christ under the direction of Bro. Gilbert Sr.

Waddell married Beatrice Lynnell Johnson in holy matrimony on July 15, 1950 in Sylvester, Texas and to this union two children were born: Delma Lynn, Carol Gwen and later adopted a son Eric Waddell. Waddell was a faithful member of the Lords church until his death. He served as leader, treasurer and Sunday school teacher in the church at the Highland and Bunche Street Church of Christ. Often times he was prompted to preach to the congregation. He was also a member at Carver Heights Church of Christ where he served as treasurer and was a supportive brother to the congregation and community.
He loved his family and was always present for them at any time. He retired from the oil field where he worked for many years. He was given employee awards during his employment. He was a man of many skills. He could fix anything from auto repair, pluming and carpentry. He loved playing baseball, but his favorite past time was watching Wheel of Fortune.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beatrice Cox his parents, Herbert A. Lavacie Jones Cox older brother, Herbert Cox, Jr., and grandson Eric Waddell Brown.
He is survived by his children Delma Lynn Lee Milton of Lubbock, Carol Gwen Jones Melvin and Eric Waddell Cox of Odessa one grandson he raised like a son, Tracy Cox of Arlington his twin brother, Fadell Cox Jearlene of Dallas four sisters, Ovatria Ann Hollins Willie, Laverne Rand Robert B. of Denver, Co, Bettie Okonkwo of Arlington and Sarah Cleopatra Anderson Arthur Ray of Odessa grandchildren, Trenia Eddington, Michael Lee, Johnathan Lee, Nikki Perkins, Christie Sneed, Octavia Mitchell, Myrica Brown, Erica Brown, Khaleed Brown, Courtney McBride, Desmond Green and Deontrea Cox 22 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
