Seferino “Sefe” Rios 79, of Odessa, Tx entered into the eternal rest of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday September 16, 2025. Seferino Rios was born in Lajitas, Tx to Alberto Ramos Rios Sr. and Hilaria Ramirez Hinojos on May 13, 1946. He attended Ector High School in Odessa, Tx. Soon after Seferino Rios joined the US Marine Corp where he served three tours in Vietnam between 1964 and 1969. In that time, he earned 13 medals and decorations: including a Purple Heart and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. His unit was the first American combat unit sent into Vietnam, in 1965. He retired from the Marine Corp as a sergeant in 1969. Seferino had various jobs, including US Postal Service, a Jailor in Ector County, a Deputy Sheriff in Sutton County, served as an officer with Odessa Police Department he then changed careers to construction until retirement. Seferino’s hobbies were Hunting, Fishing, Camping, and Family gatherings On April 9, 1991, Seferino Rios married Silvia Landaverde, in Odessa, Tx.
Seferino is preceded in death by Parents: Alberto R Rios Sr. and Hilaria H Rios, Brother: Daniel Rios Sr., Sisters: Liandra R Olivarez, Elizabeth R Cortez, Son: Israel Navarro, Nephews: Daniel Rios Jr., Mark Allen Sanchez, Juan R Cortez Jr. and Sister-in-Law: Ruth Rios
He is survived by his wife: Silvia L Rios, Daughters: Paula Ann Rios, Christina Lira Gomez and Carol Lira, Sons: Paul Anthony Rios (Melba), Phillip Adrian Rios (Luz), Roberto Navarro (Mari), Rafael Navarro (Cecelia), Brother-in-Laws: Alonso Olivarez Jr., Orlando B Sanchez, and Sister-in-Law: Maria R. Rios Brothers: Alberto Rios Jr. (Irma), and Manuel Rios, Sisters: Celia Rios, Maria R Ramirez (Manuel).
'Sefe' leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren: Fabian Nuñez, Dominic Nuñez, Hailey Marie Rios, Gabriela Rios, Camilla Navarro, and Valeria Navarro, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation is set for Thursday September 18, 2025, from 1PM – 9PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.
Funeral services are set for 2PM on Friday September 19, 2025, at Martinez Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Jerry Liceras officiating. Military Honors will follow by our local VFW Post 4372 Honor Guard.
Cremation will follow at a later date.
Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Anthony Rios and Phillip Adrian Rios.
Pallbearers: Albert Olivarez, George Olivarez, Michael Rios, Albert Rios III, Andrew Rios, Chris Rios, David Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez Jr. and Patrick Rios.
