Reimundo “Ray” Acosta was 75 years old and a lifelong resident of Odessa, Texas. He passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa surrounded by loving family and friends.
Reimundo “Ray” Acosta was born in Odessa, Texas to Trinidad D. Acosta and Constanza G. Acosta on December 13, 1950. He went to school in Odessa. He worked for many years as a welder for City of Odessa until he retired, then he decided to go back to the work field, which he was currently working for Texas Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army.
Reimundo “Ray” Acosta is preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Constanza Acosta and his brother, Jesse (Chuy) Acosta.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Daniel Ernest Acosta and Donny Edward Acosta. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Deidra Elaine Acosta Orona of Odessa, Texas. He also leaves behind four siblings: Joe Acosta of Big Spring, Texas, Armando Acosta of New Braunfels, Texas, Isabel A. Nunez, and Martha Acosta both from Odessa, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Ray Anthony Acosta, Rhani Danielle Acosta, Deja Schavea Ellis, Mariah Miller, Daniel Edward Acosta, Oscar Julian Ortegon, Analee Star Acosta, Aliah Pear’lynn Acosta, Alexis Faith’lynn Acosta, Amairah Antonia Acosta and Ozia’s Payton Acosta, and a devoted great-grandfather to Chanel Neveah Acosta, Raylynn Acosta, Zaniyah Shaneece Johnson, Zyndayah Shanelle Johnson, Julian Anthony Ortegon, Zayvian Sharod Jeffery, Alayna June Ortegon, Zyon Shakur Gael Acosta and Avery Grace Ortegon all of Odessa, Texas.
The viewing will be held on January 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Ray on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home Outside Chapel located at 1040 S. Dixie Blvd., Odessa, Texas. Family Services will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be handled by Martinez Funeral Home in Odessa.
