Oscar Leal

July 30, 1956 — November 20, 2024

Oscar Leal, 68 of Odessa, Texas passed away November 20, 2024 in Odessa, Texas.

Oscar was born to Aurelio and Mirta Leal in Alice, Texas on July 30, 1956. After moving to Odessa at the age of 12, he later graduated from Ector High School in 1974. In November of that same year, he married the love of his life, Delia Mancha. This year, 2024, marks the 50th anniversary of their union. They went on to have three children: Oscar Leal Jr., Nathan Leal, and Nevaeh Leal.

He was a loving, social man, with many friends that he made throughout over 30 dedicated years in the car sales industry. Oscar’s favorite words were undoubtedly “I love you”, along with “Give it up to God” and “Let’s eat”. He loved his family, with his grandchildren affectionately addressing him as “Wuppa”, even as some reach their adult years. Many of those who grew up with him remember his love for cars, as well as many games of “kick the can” after school.

Oscar was a man of god, who loved to read his bible and rejoice in his presence with gospel music while he and Delia sang along. Those who were a part of his church family were the receivers of many hugs as well as words of wisdom and encouragement, both a testament of his love for God and everyone he came across. His friends and family also remember how funny he was, and how much he loved to prank those around him with his assortment of masks and joke-props. It’s incredibly difficult to find words that describe Oscar and his life, one that gave him many titles: dad, husband, son, friend, brother and again, Wuppa. He will be forever and dearly missed, though his amazing legacy of love and laughter will be here in his absence.

Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio and Mirta Leal, as well as his siblings: Robert, Rachel, Magdalena, Roy, and David.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Delia, his three children: Oscar Jr., Nathan, and Nevaeh, his grandchildren: Gavin, Britton, Madden, Nixon, Austen, Auden, and Aliyah, and his siblings: Velia, Yolanda, Mary Lou, Abel, Jimmy, Lorraine, Ruben, and Rhonda.

He loved his family, and wasn’t ever too proud to say it aloud. Heaven has gained another angel, and while we feel the loss of his presence here on Earth, he will continue to spread love and light in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
