Melinda C. Abila

Melinda C. Abila, of Alice, TX, passed away on February 6th, 2024, in Odessa Texas.

Melinda was born in Galveston Texas to Sam and Lydia Cardona on September 14th, 1966. She went to school at Pecos High School. She married Frank Abila in 1983 in Pecos, Texas. 

Melinda was small in stature but had an enormous presence in life. She was always friendly to everyone she met and was the bright spot in people's days. The "bright spot" is meant both literally and figuratively. Everyone knew that she preferred all her clothing and jewelry with a little bling or sparkle while brightening any room with her own light! Most of her life was dedicated to taking care of and enjoying time with her family/friends. She selflessly took care of others and put their needs above her own. Sometimes that meant cleaning up around you even if you were not finished with your food. In short Mel was the best of everything: Best Friend, the Best Sister, the Best Daughter, the Best Wife, the Best/Most dedicated Mother and Grandmother. Our memories of her will remain warm bright spots throughout our lives until we are reunited.

Melinda is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Abila, her mother Lydia Cardona and her cherished sister Isabel Cardona Heres.

Melinda is survived Son Franky and wife Nohemi Abila of Odessa, Texas, her grandchildren Elisa Maria Abila and Penelope Emi Abila of Odessa, Texas, her sister Zulema Cantu of Alice, Texas and brother Homero Cardon of Pecos, Texas.
