Marshall Bernard Washington a 64-year-old resident of Odessa, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Odessa.
Marshall Bernard Washington was born on September 28, 1961, in Odessa, Texas, to Blanche Livingston Washington, and Manuel B. Washington the youngest of seven children. He spent most of his childhood in Odessa before attending high school in Garland, Texas.
During his high school years, Bernard was an avid football player and participated in various sports. He later became a coach for Little League and Pop Warner football in Odessa, Texas, for many years. He was well-regarded as a role model for young children. Beyond his community involvement, Bernard also dedicated himself to raising many nieces and nephews in his family. He was a source of inspiration for them, encouraging them to find joy and laughter in everyday life. As a supportive uncle and devoted son, Bernard’s greatest joy lay in his family.
Bernard’s career spanned over 22 years at Texas Tech Medical Center, where he worked in the facility maintenance. He took immense pride in his work and contributed significantly to the organization’s success.
Bernard leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his mother, Blanche Washington, from Odessa, Texas. He is survived by his brothers, Blake Washington of Lubbock Texas,, Texas, James Washington,and Randy and Phyllis Washington ofArlington from Odessa, Texas. His niece, Paula Stephens, from Corpus Christi, Texas, and his great niece, Bianca Emert, from Odessa, Texas, are also among his loved ones. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Washington Senior, his sister Joyce Washington Orum, and his brothers, Kenneth Washington and Manuel Washington Junior and his half sister, Laverne Washington.
Visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Home Dixie Location in the Inside Chapel, Friday, March 20, from 1 PM to 9 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10AM Saturday March 21, 2026, at Mackey Chapel United Methodist Church located at 306 W. Clements St. Odessa Texas 79761 with Pastor John Hendricks officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Gardens of Mercy.
