Maria Elva Colmenero 84, yrs old passed away Thursday January 1, 2026, in Odessa, Tx.

She was born January 20, 1941, to Epifanio Castillo Marquez and Rosario Delgado Rivera in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Maria Elva Colmenero was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was a beautiful testimony of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love. She endured many hardships throughout her life, yet through every trial she remained steadfast in her devotion to God, drawing strength and comfort from prayer.

Elva held a deep and tender love for the Virgin Mary. She often entrusted her loved ones to her care, faithfully asking the Blessed Mother to pray for and protect her family. This devotion was a reflection of Elva’s gentle heart and her constant desire to keep those she loved covered in prayer.

Her faith was not only something she believed, but something she lived each day. She nurtured generations with patience, wisdom, and grace, always leading by example and pointing others toward God. Though she will be deeply missed, Elva leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, resilience, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Maria Elva Colmenero is preceded in death by her daughter: Simona Colmenero whom passed at just 6 months old, parents Epifanio Castillo Marquez and Rosario Delgado Rivera.

Maria Elva Colmenero is survived by her children Hilda Colmenero, Simona Rivas and husband Joe Rivas, Ramiro Colmenero and Maria Sauls. She is also survived by her sister Maria Paula Calzadillas, and her grandchildren: Lupe Ocon, Michael Ocon, Jacob Patino, Daniel Rivas, Adrianna Rivas, Adriel Rivas, Corey Colmenero, BreeAnna Sauls, and Bethany Sauls, 14 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Micahel Ocon, Jacob Patino, Daniel Rivas, Adriel Rivas, Jordan Garcia and Michael Jon Patino.

Visitation is set for Monday January 5, 2026, from 1pm-9pm with a rosary at 7pm Martinez Funeral Home chapel.

Mass will be celebrated 10am Tuesday January 6, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 907 S. Dixie Blvd Odessa, Tx 79761 with Fr Joseph Uecker officiating.

Cremation will be at a later date.
