Manuela Ontiveros Ybarra

December 5, 1948 — May 16, 2024

Manuela was born in Fort Stockton Texas to Lazara Velasquez and George Ontiveros on December 5, 1948. She graduated from Odessa College as a certified surgical technologist and worked at Medical Center Hospital for 35 years. She married Manuel G. Velasco in 1966 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa, Texas. They had two daughters, Ninfa Velasco and Catherine Velasco. Manuel Velasco passed away in October 1979.

In 1982 she married Gabriel G. Ybarra. Together they traveled with the Mexican American Pan American Golf Association and enjoyed their beautiful marriage to its fullest until he passed away August 1990.

Manuela was a devoted Catholic and loved life. Every morning, she would sit by the dining room window and pray. She had bird feeders in her trees, and she would enjoy her time sitting in her wheelchair bird watching laughing and being so thankful of every day she had. She would always smile and laugh in her wheelchair even when she could no longer care for herself. She loved God and thanked him daily until the end of her life.

Manuela was her family’s matriarch. She was a beautiful, strong hardworking mother. She loved to cook, dance and sing. She also loved to tell stories to her grandkids about the good old days when she was growing up. She was always young at heart. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her daughters and family.
