Luis Ornelas

Luis Salcido Ornelas, age 86, of Odessa, passed away on February 28, 2014 in Odessa, TX. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 12:00 PM 9:00 PM and Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 10:00 AM 9:00 PM with a rosary reciting at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Deacon Manuel Luevano officiating.
Luis was born in Grandfalls, Texas to Canuto and Trinidad Salcido on June 1, 1927. He married Enedina Sanchez on September 28, 1947 in Grandfalls, TX. He worked as a welder for Pemco until the time of his retirement. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army as a Rifleman where he received the Victory Medal for military service from August 23, 1945 to April 8, 1947.
Luis was preceded in death by daughter Olga Gomez, brothers and sisters Eduardo Salcido, Domingo Salcido, Manuela Navarette, Anita Acosta, Chelo Salcido, Jose Salcido, Pete Salcido, Chente Almanaza, Carmen Tatum, Josefina Ledesma and Ray Herrera.
Luis is survived by his wife of 66 years Enedina Sanchez Ornelas, sons Louis S. Ornelas Jr.Lupe Ornelas, Oscar Ornelas, Albert Ornelas daughters Elida Munoz and Annette Ornelas Aguilera Sam, brothers Nick Salcido and Canuto Salcido, grandchildren Louis III, Kimberly, Alvaro, Ashlee, Melissa, Tara, Selena, Alfred II, Marina, Manny and Brianna greatgrandchildren John Richard, Sybrook, Louis IV, Noe Sofia, Eli, Abigail, Jordan, Christian, Cori, Joshua, Donovan, Dylan, Samantha and Paisley greatgreat grandchildren Jayde and Louis V.
Pallbearers will be Louis s. Ornelas III, Alfred Munoz II, Alvaro Ornelas, Manny Valles, Louis S. Ornelas IV and Johnny Herrera.
