Koris Shalawn Draughan

Koris Shalawn “Scoota” Draughan, 49, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.

Viewing for the immediate family will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 10AM to 1PM, and public viewing to be held from 1PM to 9PM at the inside Chapel of Martinez Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the inside Chapel of Martinez Funeral Home, 1040 S. Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas, with Rev. Charles E. Sims officiating. Celebration of Koris’s life and legacy will follow with a repast at the Woodson (Park) Community Center in Odessa, Texas.

Koris was born in Odessa, Texas to Frank and Yvonne Draughan on March 16, 1976. He attended school in Odessa, Texas. Besides being one of the heartbeats of his entire family, he was a great cook and primarily worked as a Chef. At an early age in his life, he attended Bethel Holiness Church, pastored by his late grandmother, Rev. Beatrice Jones and later in life attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Charles E. Sims.

Koris is preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Jones McGee, his son, Koris Draughan, Jr., his sister, Datra “Ms. Toosie” Martin, adopted brother, George Wyatts, and special aunt Cynthia Patterson.

Koris is survived by his father, Frank Draughan, sons Jamar Jackson and Tyshun Doss, his daughters, Kortashia Draughan and Korissa Draughan, brother Mark Renteria (Maribel), two sisters, Presena Draughan and Ron’Nequa Brooks, grandchildren Jayden Jackson, Zuh’Monii Green, and Xisaiaah Green, nieces Keatra Cromer, Brittany Lewis, Teeija Sims, Ro’Nequa Sims, nephew Numbers Sims, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces/nephews, and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers are immediate cousins, Devasea “Bubba” Jones, Jim Paro Jones, Ray Renteria, Lonnie Jones, Jr., Frank Lynn Jones, Charlie Jones, and Michael Henderson, uncle Bryace Jones, and nephew, Jermiah Lewis.

Memorials may be given to the family at 406 S. Muskingum Ave, Odessa, Texas.
