Juana V. Carrasco

Juana Valenzuela Carrasco,104, passed away peacefully at her home in Houston,Texas on September 30, 2022. She was born in Shafter,Texas, the fourth of twelve children to Beatriz Franco and Pedro Valenzuela on March 27th,1918. She married Teofilo M. Carrasco in 1939 and spent 40 years with her beloved husband ranching and farming in Redford, Texas. She loved her family and lived life to the fullest as she cared for her children and grandchildren. Her positive attitude, loving kindness, sense of humor, and humble nature were reflected in all she did especially when it came to serving others.

Juana is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Teofilo M. Carrasco, son, Victor Carrasco and Lupe, and son, Amado Carrasco and Maria. Juana is survived by her daughter, Lupe Ohmes (Michael), sons, Gabriel Carrasco and Teofilo Carrasco III (Graciela), 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 10 great, great grandchildren.

Visitation and viewing for the family is from 10-1pm and for the public 1-9pm on October 10th at Martinez Funeral Home with Rosary Recitation at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 10am on October 11th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Gabriel Carrasco, Joel Quintela, Robert Ohmes, Rene Carrasco, Teofilo Carrasco IV, Noel Carrasco, Rene Carrasco Jr, and Chris Vollmer.

The family of Juana V. Carrasco wants to recognize Dr. Francisco Fuentes, a highly esteemed and beloved heart doctor at Hermann Memorial Medical Center in Houston, Texas who kept Juana alive for 24 years.  We also extend our sincere thanks to Kristine Friz, Altus Hospice nurse, for her loving care during Juana’s last 2 years.
