Juan Jose Gomez Nunez, 69, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday November 1, 2023, in Odessa, TX. Juan was born in Pecos, TX. to Esilia Gomez Nunez & Florencio Ortiz Nunez Sr. on February 11, 1954.

He married Isabel Acosta Nunez on September 11, 1995, in Odessa, TX. He worked in the oil field most of his life then worked as a butcher where he retired in 2003. He was believer in Jesus Christ and a devoted Catholic. He served and maintained the lawn for many years at St. Joseph’s church. He is a Crucista de Colores. His hobby was going to flea markets and swap meets. He enjoyed collecting antiques, playing pool, riding Harley Davison motorcycles, and watching western movies.

Juan is preceded in death by parents Florencio Ortiz Nunez Sr & Esilia Gomez Nunez. His two brothers Florencio Gomez Nunez Jr. and Alfredo Gomez Nunez Sr. and his son Ricky Gomez Nunez and Granddaughter, Abby Navarrete.

Juan is survived by his wife Isabel Acosta Nunez, 9 Children Bobby Nunez, Elsie Reynolds (Shaun), Stephanie Hamilton (Justin), Jennifer Riggs, Juan Nunez Jr. (Nayely Nunez), Martin Minjarez, Amy Ocampo (Manny), April Minjarez (Jesse), Sammy Minjarez (Gabby). 5 Sister and 1 brother, Maria Contreras (Eliseo), Teofilo Nunez, Rosie Gonzalez (Pete), Prisilia Ramirez (Ruben), Diana Sedillos (Arthur), Rebecca Flores (Jesus). 1 Sister-in-law Martha Acosta and 3 Brother in laws Joe Acosta, Ray Acosta, Armando Acosta.  

Juan also leaves to cherish his memory 24 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 11 nieces and 12 nephews.

Visitation is set for Monday November 6, 2023, from 1pm-9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.

Funeral services are set for 10am Tuesday November 7, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Carlos Rodriguez officiating.

Pallbearers will be Athan Nunez, Augustine Maldonado Jr., Adan Marmolejo, Marcos Marmolejo, Ethan Flores, Victor Flores, Bryan Reyes, Floyd Gonzalez.

The family of Juan wishes to extend our sincere thanks to MCH extended care unit.

The Family is cordially inviting guest to a fellowship at St Anthony’s Fellowship Hall immediately after the services at the cemetery.
