Gilberto Navarette Luera Sr., age 64, of Midland, Texas, passed away on May 9, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on August 7, 1960, in Pecos, Texas.
Gilberto was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He is survived by his son, Gilbert Luera Jr.; daughter-in-law, Karina M. Luera; and his beloved grandson, Noah L. Borrego. He is also survived by his father, Efren Luera, and his siblings: Rogelio Luera and his wife, Linda; Sylvia Villanueva and her husband, Richard; Anna Hignojos and her husband, Ricardo; and Efren Luera Jr. Gilberto is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved and admired him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria Teresa Luera; his mother, Manuela Luera; and his brothers, Jose Luera, Jerome Luera, and Emilio Luera.
Gilberto had a strong faith in Christ that gave him strength, peace, and purpose throughout his life. His trust in God was the foundation of his resilience and compassion. He was also a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys, cheering for his team through every season. A gifted musician, Gilberto found joy in sharing music with others. His talent and passion brought people together and left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to hear him play.
Gilberto will be remembered for his warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith. His legacy of love and music will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Visitation will be held Wednesday May 21, 2025 from 1:00PM - 9:00PM at Martinez Funeral Home. A Chapel Service is set for 10:00AM Thursday May 22, 2025 at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.
