Garry Givens

Garry Lee Givens, 66, of Odessa Texas, passed away on July 7th, 2022, in Odessa Texas.

Garry Lee Givens was born on March 30, 1956, in Chillicothe Texas to the late Johnny and Bobbie Givens, Garry attended Chillicothe High School. There he enjoyed playing basketball and track. Garry moved to Odessa, Tx in 1976 where he worked as a forklift operator and truck driver. He married his lifelong partner of forty years, Sharon K. Thomas Givens on December 12th, 1981, in Odessa Tx.  From this union 2 children were born, Aaliyah and Elijah.

Garry’s pastime favorites were fishing, gardening, and going to garage sales with his mother and wife. Garry was a diehard Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching football games with his family and friends.  He was also a jokester and loved to make people smile and laugh. Garry was always willing to lend a helping hand, he helped strangers, family, and friends. He enjoyed doing yard work and washing cars. Garry’s faith was strong, he was a true believer in the word of God.

On Thursday, July 7th, 2022, Garry Lee entered his eternal home in Heaven.  He was welcomed by his parents Johnny and Bobbie Givens and five siblings, Levi Givens, Norvell Givens, Verna Givens, Katie Givens, and Jennie Givens Jones.

Garry leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife Sharon K. Givens, his sons Garrick Route of Eastland Tx, Elijah Isiah Givens, and daughter Aaliyah Janaye Givens of Odessa Tx. His siblings, Earsie Moore and Annie Givens of Odessa Tx, Vera Givens McDow of Dallas Tx, and Mary Givens of Austin Tx, his twin brother Larry Givens (Reba) of Midland Tx, James Givens of Fort Worth Tx, Quanah Givens (Emma), and Johnnie Givens (Lavendia) of Odessa Tx. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation is set for Friday July 22, 2022, from 1pm-9pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

A celebration of life service for Garry is set for 2pm Saturday July 23, 2022, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with Pastor Windsor Archie officiating.

Burial will be at 11am Monday July 25, 2022, at the Chillicothe Cemetery in Chillicothe, Tx. with Pastor Norris Thomas officiating.
