Ethel Mae Hunt Blacknall

Odessa, TX

Ethel Mae Hunt Blacknall was born April 29, 1931, in Rogers, (Bell County) TX to the parents of Don S. Hunt and Lillie Mae Livingston. They moved to Sweetwater, TX where she attended school. In 1953 Ethel moved to Odessa, TX.

Ethel was a proud and devoted member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Odessa, TX where she served on the Deaconess Board, the Culinary Ministry and received numerous certificates of completion in her studies of the Christian Education Ministry.

She enjoyed her time as a business owner operating "Ethel's Kitchen." Later she worked for ORMC until she retired.

She married the love of her life Ben Gene Blacknall in 1985. He preceded her in death in 1997. Preceding her in death also was her parents, brothers Leroy and Alex Garrett.

She is survived by her sisters Emma L. Hutchinson of San Antonio, TX; Marilyn Hunt of Sweetwater, TX; sisters-in-law Teresa Hunt of Dallas, TX and Bennie Hunt of Odessa, TX; one such nephew Vance Starks known as "Son-Nephew" in the home; step daughters Vendora Scott and Vina Morris both of Odessa, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; great nieces/nephews; a multitude of friends and especially the loving Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.

Visitation is set for Thursday June 19, 2025, from 1pm-9pm at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.

A celebration service of Ethel Mae Blacknall’s life has been set for 10am Friday June 20, 2025, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Missionary Church1615 E Murphy St. Odessa, Tx. with Rev Archie Windsor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery ‘Rosehill section’.
