Damien Ortega 18, formerly of El Paso, TX passed away Sunday February 27, 2022, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born January 14, 2004, in El Paso, TX to Gabriel Ortega and Alma Rios. He was a Christian Catholic and a student at Richard Milburn High School.

He was involved in the Art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 6 years training at the Vagabond BJJ Academy. He earned his blue belt, participated in many competitions and super fights where he would come out victorious in many of the bouts. With him being in competition this opened many doors for his parents to be able to travel with him. They went to major competitions in Las Vegas, NV, Long Beach, CA. and Houston, TX. He won many types of awards from swords, belts, and many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals. Win or lose he always gave his best, although his interest was in Jiu-Jitsu, he also had another passion skateboarding. He spent most of his time with his friends at Sherwood Park. He will be dearly missed by all.

Damien is survived by his parents, sisters Isabel Ortega, Ruth Gonzalez and Ashley Rojas, brother Isaiah Ortega, Paternal Grandparents Gabriel Ortega Sr. and Ruth Gonzalez, Maternal Grandparents Jose, and Maria Rios all El Paso, TX.

Damien also leaves to cherish his memory several aunts, uncles cousins, and many friends.

Visitation is set for Saturday March 5, 2022, from 1pm-9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Mask are required as you enter the funeral home.

Cremation will be held at a later date.
