CHARLA RAE RICKS was born March 24, 1990 and lost her battle with Lupus December 20, 2023 in Austin, Texas. She was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 12. She battled this awful disease for 21 years of her short 33 years here on earth. She underwent 2 kidney transplants and was in need of a 3rd.
After high school, Charla attended Howard College Satellite in San Angelo, TX then later decided to take her love of cooking to another level and decided to move to Austin Texas to attend the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. Unable to finish due to her disease, she decided to remain in Austin where she has lived for over 10 years.
Charla was a true friend and always saw the good in people. She loved life and took every good day given to her and lived it to the fullest. She had the biggest heart and was always so giving and doing whatever she could for others. She took care of and spoiled every child she knew.
All Charla ever wanted was to find someone to share her life with who was loyal and who loved like she did. It gives us great comfort knowing that she found that love in her boyfriend, Jerek Lane and his family.
Charla had a beautiful, silly, fun and playful attitude. We will forever hold Charla in our hearts as she is finally pain free as her wish to be “normal” (as she would say) has finally been granted by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Charla’s friends would often tell her that she was spoiled, and she would quickly correct them by saying; “I’m not spoiled, I AM LOVED!”. We truly believe that if you were lucky enough to have met and known Charla – you couldn’t help but fall in love with her.
Charla is survived by Boyfriend; Jerek Lane Parents; Ida Ricks and Charles Ricks Grandmothers; Enedina Hinojos; Ruby Montgomery , Sister; Chassity Hodges (Joel); Crystal Ricks-Bello; Chelsea Ricks; Courtney Ricks (Lionel Green, Sr.) & Sarah Nelson, Brother; Charles Ricks Jr. (Ashley) Nephews; Caden Prince, Lionel Green, Jr., Lyric Green, Kaiser Ricks, Josiah, Angel & Devin Vasquez, Nieces; Leah Green, Londyn Lane, Akera & Asia Hodges As well as many aunts, uncles and countless friends.
