Carmelita Ortega, 77, passed away March 2, 2014 peacefully at her home in Odessa, Texas. She was born on September 22, 1936 in Toyah, Texas to Francisco and Francisca Martinez. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 12:00 9:00 PM and Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 10:00 AM 9:00 PM with a rosary reciting at 7:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with father Miguel Officiating. Interment will follow to Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Carmelita was a devoted catholic and was very deep in her faith. She was a caring and giving person. Carmelita always had people staying at her home, this truly says a lot about her faith and caring nature. Her hobby was helping others she volunteered her time at MHMR and at the Salvation Army as well. Carmelita retired from ECISD after 22 years where she worked in the school cafeteria. Most of all Carmelita loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her father Francisco Martinez and her brother Frank Martinez Jr.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 56 years Salvador Ortega, sons Joe Ortega, Saul Racheal Ortega and Jonathan Marcelino all form Odessa, Texas, daughters Anna Jose Marcelino of Odessa, Texas and Nancy Marc Bresino of Stanton, Texas, mother, Francisca Martinez of Odessa, Texas, brother, Joe Peggy Martinez of Odessa, Texas, sisters, Juanita Morales and Margie Manuel Ledesma both of Pecos, Texas.

In lieu of flowers family asks donations be made to the Hope House at Texas Oncology of Odessa, Texas.
