Carlos L. Roman Jr.

Carlos Lujan Roman, 78, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born in Big Spring, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Odessa.

Carlos graduated from Ector High School and afterwards joined the U. S. Military where he served as a part of the Army National Security Agency. After honorable discharge he then graduated from Odessa College before beginning a long and dedicated career of service to his community. He started Roman's Body Shop where he began collision and custom autobody work as well as working with the Odessa Police Department as a police officer, Gulf Oil, Chevron Corporation, the Ector Co. Sheriff’s Department as a jailer, and later the Midland Co. Sheriff’s Department as a jailer, where he retired. After retirement, he returned to work with Pioneer Natural Resources before fully retiring.

Carlos married the love of his life, Elia, on August 21, 1965, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odessa. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and faith. He is survived by his wife, Elia Roman; his children, Tami Roman, Aubree Valerio and husband Nolberto Valerio, and Jon Roman and wife Meshell Roman; eight grandchildren;Hailey Galindo and husband Victor, Nikkii Skinner and husband Stetson, Emmory Gaspar, Jakob Roman, AlyxZander Valerio, Jon Roman Jr, Evanie Valerio and AlyxZaidyn Valerio. And five great-grandchildren. Vince, Myah, Juliana, Isaiah, Leonardo and Braylee.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Dominguez Roman and Mercedes Roman.

Outside of work, Carlos enjoyed fishing, fixing cars in his paint and body shop, and cheering for his favorite teams—the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He had a gift for making others laugh and cherished every moment spent with his family.

Services will be held at Martinez Funeral Home. A Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m.

Carlos will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and as a man whose humor, hard work, and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
