Arturo Vasquez

Arturo Perez Vasquez went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2014. He was at his residence in Odessa, TX.

Arturo was born in Mathis, TX to Jesus and Juanita Vasquez on December 15, 1944. He was married in 1966 to Maria Armendariz in Odessa, TX. He was an Odessa High School graduate. He worked as a machinist at Swinney Machine Shop. He also worked as a custodian for ECISD. Arturo was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon w Device 1967 and the Expert Badge with Rifle Bar. He was a member of the VFW. Arturo was a devout Catholic and attended both Holy Redeemer and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Arturo is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rose Reyna, grandson Paul Arturo and Sisterinlaw Francis Baca.

Arturo is survived by his wife, Maria Vasquez and six sons and three daughters, Eddie Armendariz, Ture and wife Rhonda, Raymon and wife Rose, Jessie and wife Ashley, Maria DeLeon and husband Pete, all of Odessa, Manuel and wife, Licia of Wichita Falls, Michelle Vannier and husband Steve of OK Naomi Grey and husband Dwayne of KY. He is also survived by his sister, Tommie Vasquez of Odessa. Son Joe Armendariz of Newburgh, NY. Sisterinlaws Socorro Gomez and Olivia Moreno of Odessa. He had 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren plus 2 more in the womb. He was a loving example of Gods love to all of his children, grandchildren greatgrandchildren and loved them all unconditionally.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Brandon Lopez, Anthony Vasquez, Raymond Vasquez, Mykell Vasquez, Chris Vasquez, Justin Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez and Tino Saucedo. Honorable pallbearers are his friends, David Saenz and Rob Lane.

The family of Arturo would like to extend their sincere thanks to Desert Milagro, Home Hospice and his nurse Jimmy Edward. In addition, they would like to thank all family and friends for their support.

Rosary will be 7 PM Tue. July 15 at Martinez Funeral Home.
Mass will be 10 AM Wed. July 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Onyekozuru officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home
