Alberto J. Hernandez, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 83 in Odessa, Texas.
Alberto J. Hernandez was born April 25, 1942, in Mexico to Nicanor Hernandez and Romana Jimenez Hernandez. He married the love of his life Ortencia (Ramirez) Hernandez on June 5, 1961, embarking on a lifelong partnership that was filled with love, experiences, and cherished memories. Alberto worked diligently as a Concrete Finisher, showcasing not only his craftsmanship but also his independence as his own boss throughout his life-long career. Alberto was known for his outgoing nature and unique personality. He possessed an innate ability to uplift those around him; wherever he went, he became the life of the party. His green thumb allowed him to cultivate not only beautiful trees, but it was evident in the way he cared for animals and the outdoors. His laughter was not just heard but felt, infectious and warm, his joy radiated, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Alberto is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ortencia Hernadez; and parents, Nicanor & Romana Hernandez; brother, Federico Hernandez.
Alberto is survived by his children, Alberto Jr. Hernandez, Roldolfo Hernandez, Eva Marquez, and Anani Hernandez; his grandchildren, Cynthia Chavez, Venessa R. Hernandez, Rodolfo Hernandez, Susie Venzor, Crystal Rodriguez, Abigail Venegas, Cecilia A. Hernandez, Noemi M. Hernandez, Lilia A. Hernandez, Andres R. Hernandez, & Leonel Melendez; great grandchildren, Anani A. Venzor, Jose Jr. Venzor, Omero O. Venzor, Toby T. Venzor, Avery G. Venzor, Isaiah Chavez, Alexis Chavez, Arabella J. Venegas, Adeline R. Venegas; great-great grandchildren, Sayden Chavez, Elias Vega, Adriel Antonio Jansson, and Natalia Maria Merino; sister, Margarita Burrola; and countless friends and families, whose lives she touched.
A public visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM, at Martinez Funeral Home West Chapel.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Martinez Funeral Home West Chapel, 10137 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas, 79764.Pastor Daniel Lopez of “Lighthouse of Hope” will be officiating. A burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery. Following the service, the family warmly invites you to join them for a meal in honor of Alberto. The gathering will be held at Lighthouse of Hope Church, located at 5533 W. Mapp St., Odessa, Texas, 79764. Pallbearers will be Alberto Hernandez, Jr., Rodolfo Hernandez, Andres Hernandez, Leonel Melendez, Homero Marquez, Raul Burrola, Isreal Moran, and Peter Rayos.
Alberto’s journey through life was marked by vibrant connections with those around him.
