Terry was born in Bethesda, Maryland, to Jesse and Eugenia Rowland on April 3, 1958. She went to school at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland, where she graduated in 1976. She married the love of her life, John Ewing, on December 27, 2009 in Odessa, Texas. She worked at the United States Postal Service for several years until an accident at work made her permanently disabled; but that didn't stop Terry from being active in her local community. She organized fund raisers, rescued dogs, and even made homemade burritos that she sold and delivered to local businesses and bars. She also was a very good poker player and won several tournaments in her early years. Later in life she organized poker tournaments to help raise money for people in need as well as for fun. She always felt her mission in life was to rescue dogs that had been abused or neglected by taking them home and nursing them back to health. Her weakness was that she didn't have the heart to re-home these dogs and ended up keeping most of them. At one point, Terry and John had over 20 dogs that they loved and took care of.
Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Eugenia Rowland; her dogs, Scampi, Simon, Paco, Sam, and Lightfoot, just to name a few.
Terry is survived by her husband, John Ewing; two sisters, Bonnie Lenzmeier and Cathy Boulanger; numerous nieces and nephews. She had no children, but her dogs were considered her children and her life; their names are as follows: Sassy, Quigley, Chewy, Betty Lou, Goldie, Muffin, Junior, Coco, Tigger, Rocky, Shilo, and Goliath.
Our family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Martinez Funeral Home, Sunset Memorial Gardens, and all the friends that she made here in Odessa and Midland over the last 20 years.
