David Gonzales was born in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Refugio Gonzalez and Pomposa Martinez on December 29, 1931. He married Vicenta Arredondo Villegas on February 9, 1955, in Cerritos, SLP, Mexico. He worked as a self-employed cement finisher/contractor and worked hard all his life. He instilled his work ethic to all his children and grandchildren. Even in his seventies, he could outwork the young men that worked for him. His passion and pride were his children, proudly declaring he had five sons and one daughter before he passed. He loved tinkering in his garage, working in his yard, growing a vegetable garden and clearing his land on his old tractor. He made an awesome “chile del molcajete” and he religiously shelled pecans to gift to his family and friends. After his movements were limited, he enjoyed watching baseball, especially his favorite team, the Texas Rangers. He also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, El Chavo and El Chispirito.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Vicenta, after 53 years of marriage. He provided and cared for his ailing wife until her death.
David Gonzales is survived by his children: Viviano Gonzales and wife Elizabeth of Abilene, TX, Carlos Gonzales of Allen, TX, Armando Gonzales and wife Gracie of Odessa, TX, David Gonzales, Jr. and wife Irene of The Colony, TX, Maria Fabela and husband Domingo of Farmers Branch, TX, and Albert Gonzales of Odessa, TX. Also, he is survived by his brothers Antonio Gonzalez and Pedro Gonzalez both of San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico, and his sisters Zenaida Mendoza of Houston, TX and Hilaria Reyes of Tiajuana, Baja California, Mexico. He has 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Armando Gonzales, Jr., Michael Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales, David Fabela, Colton Younger, and Brandon Jarrett.
